Ellen Rodger is the author of the novella The Girls’ Room, published in Love & Desire: Four Modern Australian Novellas. Her short story collection manuscript Happy At Work was shortlisted for the 2024 Penguin Literary Prize. Her work has appeared in The Best Australian Stories and The Age, and her short fiction has been recognised by awards including the Elizabeth Jolley Short Story Prize, the Newcastle Short Story Award, the Albury City Short Story Award, the Alan Marshall Short Story Award, The Age Short Story Award, and the Josephine Ulrick Literature Prize. She has also been awarded the Varuna/HarperCollins Award for Manuscript Development, an Australia Council for the Arts Emerging Writers Grant, and an Australian Society of Authors Mentorship.
